MED Module B certificate
Module B covers EC type-examination of the MARINE CEILING SYSTEM.

On 1 March 2023, TRE C obtained EC Type-Examination Certificate (Module B) MED/0497/1447 for its MARINE CEILING SYSTEM, issued by CSI S.p.A., Notified Body no. 0497.
Type approval for marine applications
The certificate covers equipment item MED/3.18a under Marine Equipment Directive 2014/90/EU and certifies, for the covered configuration, compliance with the applicable fire-protection requirements.
What Module B means
Module B is the EC type-examination procedure: the notified body examines the technical documentation and verifies that a type representative of the intended production meets the applicable requirements. It is therefore approval of the product type, rather than certification of series production.
MARINE CEILING SYSTEM
The certified type is a modular micro-perforated metal ceiling with acoustic fleece. The configuration stated in the certificate uses 29% perforation, epoxy-based powder coating and 0.6 mm steel sheet. Testing was carried out according to IMO Res. MSC.307(88), 2010 FTP Code, Annex 1 Part 5.
Module B formally recognises the MARINE CEILING SYSTEM product type as equipment intended for the marine applications covered by the certificate.
